one thing ill say about 'caught in the trees' is that its always puzzled me that so many couples think that its a record full of love songs that they dance together to when its clear to me that its an album about the dissolution of a relationship - the songs are misunderstood in a way similar to bruce springsteens 'born in the usa' and rems 'the one i love'
"Sheets" is definitely a favorite of mine. I look forward to this, though it seems perfect the way it is. Will this make it "present perfect"? Ha, remembrances of English class.
I have to admit. I didn't want to listen to the new version of this song. I thought the originally released version was perfect. It was one of the top 10 my friends and I talked about most.
I snuck off to a corner of my back yard, away from any distractons and played it on Saturday afternoon.
It is absolutely another masterpiece, the both of them. Learning the progression Damien shared with us through online media about it adds to the validity and duallity a song can become.
Being a writer myself, I can appreciate how Damien felt the song wasn't finished. I'm still in awe over both versions, and it encourages me to complete some of my own unfinished work.
Damien, thank you once again. I can't speak for everybody, however, your art is priceless to me.
I love this behind-the-scenes info. Sheets and Everything Trying were definitely my favorites off that album. Everything Trying has brought me to tears on many occasions.

For what it’s worth, many of us love Go First from that album but want to spare you having to do the guitar for it. 😉
